Had our first rain in several months. The dogs tracked in their share of dirt. Here is how the backyard is doing right now. This is the path beside the pond where we took out the laurel hedge. It only took two years to get it removed. I planted scarlett runner beans, squash and pumpkins, also cosmos, and a few perennials. I used bamboo from the hedge in the back to provide more climbing space for the runner beans. It bends easily when first cut.

These are the new extended beds. The paths have gotten narrower. The dogs, Ciara and Dakota, love chasing each other in their version of tag around the paths and patio.

I love the daylilies. They are the first thing to bloom in the spring after the bulbs and the different varieties are carrying on.

It looks wonderful Jewell. It looks like the kind of garden you can wander around and see something different every time you visit. I'm curious about the supportive structures that look like tall arches -- what are they? The puppy-dogs look like they have become fast friends.

MaryAnn the fencing was added onto with bamboo that I either stuck into the wire fencing or bent over to make an arch. I couldn't believe that the next day the runners had hit the top. Can't wait until they fill in.

Netty, I hope that the irish moss, creeping speedwell and corisian mint will fill-in on the other path also like they did on that one. I cleaned the grass out two years ago on path in the 4th pic, and the plants are all volunteer. I just have to keep the grass and weeds pulled. Of course the dogs are slowing things down a bit with the spread...especially now that we have two young dogs, on the newly cleaned path. I have potted up more corasian mint and hope to have more starts so it won't have to be all volunteer starts.

Just lookit that, will you!
That back yard/garden looks really nice to me. I like your style very much.

The garden has lots of features that are attractive. The borders are strong and look good. It looks like you have some shady areas. They are necessary in a garden, I feel--if only to escape the sun from time to time. ;)

Well done, Jewell--Gosh, I like it.

Oh what a lovely garden you have Jewell, I love your stone pathways. The dogs look as if they really enjoy being out there.

Om my what a beautiful garden you have Jewell - a real testament to all your hard work. The dogs certainly seem to be appreciating it too and having fun racing along the pathways. :-D
