The air quality here is really getting unbreathable. The cause is mindless people doing open burning!!

It's not so bad around my area KK, but sometimes it can be noticed in places. The worst is when they do the thermal fogging for the mosquitoes, but at least that's useful.

Certainly makes you want to stay indoors all day. We haven't had air like that in several years, most cities have banned outdoor burning especially since we have had bad drought conditions for a few recent years.

Denver had air like that in the early 1970's. My daughter couldn't play outside after about 11 a.m. when the pollution started literally rolling into our backyard.

Oh dear KK that's not in the least bit healthy. I hope the 'powers that be' put a stop to all this mindless pollution soon before everyone's health is seriously affected.

Oooh, doesn't look good at all, KK. If it were fog it would have been rather ghoslyish nice, but not smoke. :(

I had to deal with that this year also KK one of my neighbors decided to open burn 2 piles 8 foot tall (really they were that tall) of insulation. One of the other neighbors called the state and reported them. I know how you feel I was locked in my house for over a week due to the smell and the smoke.

Lucky you Frank, fogging is OK but I think they should use something else instead of diesel and DDT.

Cherylad with some help from a shower this morning, it clear up in the late afternoon today.

You are right Toni, we stayed indoors if there is no reason to be out with the windows closed.

Eileen I fully agreed with you that it is not healthy at all. The "powers that be" is as mindless as the mindless polluter. They claim they did not know where it came from even though the pollution is that massive affecting almost 50% of the country. Even the offices in high rise building were not spared I am told.

Yes Netty that is horrible, I guess these mindless people might be burning vegetation from old palm oil plants in plantations to make way for new plants.

Yes Sojerd it was bad and thank god it cleared up this late afternoon.

This shot is taken at 4:30PM after the air cleared up and I am keeping my fingers crossed that it will stay this way. A report in the locally daily : http://thestar.com.my/news/story.asp?file=/2010/10/20/nation/7261543&sec=nation

Yes you right Droopy, fog also means the weather is cool. :)

Naturenanni, hope the authorities did take action against the culprit. Yes it is terrible, the smell of the smoke still linger on here even though it is clearing up here.

Cherylad it still smell of burnt vegetation even though it's clearing up. Becky is really having a fit with the smell because the laundry smell of smoke!!

While it is clearing up here, our neighbouring state is now suffering and schools have to be shut down. The report in a local daily today - http://thestar.com.my/news/story.asp?file=/2010/10/21/nation/7267081&sec=nation
