We got a little more rain and storm than we really wanted today. It was strong here but the worst missed us and hit Madisonville. It moved along between I-45 and Hwy 75 taking off rooftops and toppling trees and those big tall fast food signs. Madisonville has considerable damage and had large size hail. Fortunately for Glenda and I there was strong winds and heavy rain but no major damage. It started about two to three miles south of us. I was standing on the front porch and watching the rain and it was coming down in circles. About 30 feet above the ground it was in big rolls that were rolling across the sky. I never saw anything like it. It's soaked into the soil already but we aren't complaining about that. I just hope we don't get another one like it anytime soon. Just a nice steady rain would be nice. dooley

Sounds a bit scary. I don't like it when Mother Nature's in her dramatic mode, and especially not when she's toppling trees and tearing off roof tops.

I'm glad you weren't affected by it Dooley. I must have been a strange sight watching the rain move in the way it did.

Is there any news of Glenda getting her computer back yet. I really miss her. :(

Do you get tornados in your area??? Anytime we see swirls like you're describing, we head for cover here. We finally got some much-needed rain here, but too late for the area corn and bean crops.

I think we have rain predicted for the next two weeks everyday. We will see. I would love a good slow soaking rain and to cool things off. :fingerscrossed:

The National Weather Service meteorologist said it was a microburst-which happens when rain-cold air comes down and spreads out when it hits the ground. He said people often mistake microbursts for tornados because of the sound. The winds were 80 mph and there was 1.37 inches of rain. dooley
