This eagle flew over our house and landed in a tree a few doors down. I went out and took a couple of pictures before a small bird chased it off. ( photo / image / picture from Kildale's Garden )
Do you know what the wing span of the bald eagle is Kildale? I'm trying to get an idea for its actual size.
Awesome birds! I have never seen one up close but I hear there is a nesting pair not too far from here.
Hi Kildale. I believe I know you from another gardening website from a while back. Your photos are as beautiful as always. Can't wait to see all your new ones.
Here is a link to a live cam at a bald eagle nest. Last year they raised two hatchlings. It can be pretty graphic when they eat. http://pittsburgh.cbslocal.com/hays-bald-eagle-cam/
I've only seen a bald eagle in the wild a couple of times. It was such an exciting treat. You did very well to get this photo.
Thank you all for the posts. Not a great shot as it was in an awkward position with its back towards me.
I've seen a few of them fairly close in western Washington. One that was circling my small dog and another pulling a large trout out of a river we were camping near. Of course, no camera near.
