Banana I.D.

    Although I can find pictures on the net of banana flowers just like yours Jon I can't find either a common or Latin name for the variety. :( People seem to post the photographs but perhaps don't know the type of banana plant they have.

    Now for a little bit of trivial informnation. ;)

    Did you know that a banana tree isn't a tree at all? The 'trunk/stem' is actually a pseudostem made of each of the banana plant's leave sheaths. So you see it is technically a plant.
    Told you it was trivial info. :p

    very cool! I've never seen one of those... or at least I haven't seen it when it puts on fruit.
