There is a new tradition here on the farm. When I go out to clean the coop and let the hens out, Timi leads the way down the path, then jumps up on the shelf and gets two oyster crackers (the hens get a handful of crackers to get them away from the door so I can get in the coop without stepping on a hen). This was the first tradition. Cali likes to break into the kitchen when the door opens, and we get to chase a cat around the kitchen island. The new tradition is that I now have a basket in the kitchen, and simply put it on the floor and Cali, who adores baskets, jumps in. I pick up the basket and carry her to the barn, put the basket in the garden cart, and she gets out. I am officially a "cat carrier". And before you ask, we do NOT spoil our critters!
No Jane of course you don't spoil your critters one little bit!! I believe you honest. I also believe that pigs fly, that there are pink elephants, Santa Clause and the Tooth fairy.
Don`t even want to talk about spoiled critters MG ! You know we have a few dogs that hubby picked up on the roads when they were puppies ! The cute little fuzzy pups grew into huge dogs ! Still sweet and part of the family but terrified of storms ! Can you imagine a 98 lb lab shaking when he hears thunder ? Well we have one and a German Shepherd and a lab cross and a hound cross that picked us up ! Its storming here now and hounds are laying everywhere ! No way do we spoil our animals !
Mart, I'm glad you are as firm with your dogs as we are with our cats. No need to let the four-footers rule--we humans are in charge. If you believe that, I have some ocean front property in Arizona that you might be interested in buying.
Cool idea...we had a cat many years ago that the only way you could hold her was while she was in a box. I had boxes all over the house at that time but she felt more secure in them.
