We have a Status Red weather warning in place for the west of Ireland tonight starting from 9PM until midday tomorrow. Gusts of 130 to 150 km/h (80 to 93 miles/h) are possible. At the moment (6:15 PM) it's quite bad already so I'm not looking forward to tonight. I pity any animals in the fields, especially any lambs born around the countryside.
    I'll keep you updated!

Hope you have good hurricane straps or something similar on the roof  Maybe mother nature will make sure no lambs are born during the storm.

    Stay safe Frank!

Of all of mother nature's elements wind is the thing that scares me most.

The wind is getting up here too but I don't think our forecast is for anywhere near the same speeds that you are experiencing.

Sounds like you need to attach anchors to the sheep. People too!
Keep the roof on Frank and we will check in the morning with Eileen to see if you have blown across the sea in her direction. Nasty winter storm, stay safe.

I hope you're surviving these dreadful gales Frank. I can't help thinking of the poor large animal vets that are called out. They take their lives in their hands driving with gusts of over 100 miles per hour. Fingers crossed no lambs will be born, unless under cover, in the next 24 hours.

Frank, here in Texas we are thinking of you, your family, the sheep, and all of Ireland that is undergoing this horrific weather.
Keep safe--you and yours can't be replaced, the other stuff isn't nearly as important.

With 4000 out of power in parts of Ireland it looks like it will be a long night as storm Rachael approaches. One of the weather reports mentioned Thundersnow, a moust unusual and rare event. Prayers for all those in harms way.

I hope nothing untoward happened to you overnight Frank and that you, your family and livestock are all OK.

Sadly one of our 6 foot fence panels blew down and smashed the greenhouse. There's no point trying to repair either as the winds are still so bad and the gusts are still causing real problems. :(

Hoping you all made it through the night safely Frank, and all those animals. High winds are so scary!

Ouch, sorry to hear that Eils :( Did it smash much of the overall glass?

Well the Status Red warning is almost over and it was not as bad as feared thankfully. The rain got pretty squally at times and it kept the trees in the backyard pretty active. Surprisingly I had one of the best sleeps I had in ages, don't know what's going on there

We had two lambs last night but they were born indoors so they were protected and are doing fine :)

Thanks so much for your thoughts and wishes all, much appreciated!

    Glad it's good news Frank.

Eileen, Sorry about your greenhouse. I have that fear every time we have a storm.

Frank, the first thing I did after getting back from the barn was turn on the computer and check for a message from you. Such good news! I'm so happy you got a good night's rest, and that the two lambs are safe and warm.
Eileen, what a shame about your greenhouse. I'm so sorry, and I hope you didn't have any valued plants in it. That is why we don't have one--the winds here in Texas would be sure to damage it.
