I know you're not supposed to grow beans in the same bed the next year, but does that apply to all legumes?

When my peas finish this year, can I plant beans in the same place. I'd like to reuse the trellis I built for the peas

I only have a small space so I plant the stuff after each other. It doesn't seem to stunt their growth. My peas from the winter garden are about ready to pull. I haven't decided what to put in that space yet. It's to late to plant more peas or beans.

JonnZ, the only problem I can see is that peas fix nitrogen in the soil, and beans planted in the same place might have a lot of green growth (leaves) to the detriment of bean production. If you add a bit of fertilizer with a high middle number (which promotes blossoming and therefore fruiting) you may end up with great bean plants with lots of beans!
Is there anything better than a batch of fresh beans, lightly steamed and drizzled with olive oil? Well, there are fresh tomatoes, and peppers, and . . . .

I plant beans and peas in the same place year after year !! Doesn`t hurt a thing. Seems to do better each year. Need some peas. You can`t always believe what is written. If I did my garden would be a giant sand lot !
