It finally stopped raining, and the green bean plants dried off enough for me to pick beans. I picked a three quart basket of green beans! I knew there would be a good picking, but this good? We now have a quart of fresh beans in the refrigerator, and two quarts in containers in the freezer. Heaven help me, this was just the first picking! Mother Nature is making up for last year's poor gardens. She may be overdoing it a bit . . . .
Get them while you can MG ! Next year will likely be a drought ! Try them lightly battered and fried ! Pickled are good too !
Sjoerd, I picked three quarts of beans, which filled my basket. I didn't take pictures because my husband, the photographer, was taking advantage of the drier weather to mow grass. Mart, I've made dilly beans before, so thank you for reminding me! If the green bean harvest keeps up at this rate, I'll be dilly beaning!
How about that, Odif ! — my second bean sowing popped-up the the same day as yours. I sowed then in the ground, so we will have to see if the little creatures will leave them alone.
