We popped out to the lottie and hauled in yet more beans, courgettes, toms and a gherkin. The beans are doing very well this year so far, so well that each processing means a couple of extra hours work. We have three types of climbers this ear and we are doing them all separately. In this first foto you can see where the term, “a mess ‘o beans” comes from. A quick look in the pantry, on the freezer door shows what we have put up so far this year. Finally, a fresh bite of sliced Mountain Magic toms with a sprinkling of salt together with Norwegian cheese cubes. Oh, and the courgettes? Like a jet, they have flown away to the Food Bank. Today it has been rainy, the lottie desperately needed the rain. It is good to be able to spend more time on here.

Thanks Netty—I am freezing the beans in. The freezer list has all the things I am freezing-in. Oh wait, the veg words are in Dutch. Sorry. When you have eaten some of all your beans, I would like to hear their names and what you think about them.

@Zigs That Bridgewater been almost looks like Dragon's Tongue. My friend grows something like that. He grew up in NE China where they were a favorite. Twenty years ago he found the seeds here in a Chinese market, and has been growing them from saved seeds every year. Are courgettes the same thing as zucchinis? If so, we are being buried in them. It's the zucchini tsunami.
I believe they may be, Daniel. we do not have a list of names for that type of veg here, just courgette. I realise that there are terms like squash, marrows, zucchini’s and perhaps more; however, I do not know which is which so I just use the word, “courgette”. My plants always produce so many, that I only plant three— one for myself and two for the Food Bank. Mate, one plant gives me way more than I can personally consume. It is something that I warn new gardeners to our club about.
Cor, I didn't know Norwegian brown cheese could be eaten like that! I might have to brave it some time. Lovely bean list, you're really good at growing beans.
I am so jealous! I planted my usual Anasazi and October beans then added Cherokee black, Orcas and Mayflower. They were doing great! Then the baby bunnies came, they are small enough to fit through the fence! Next year I'll plant my garlic all around my bean bed. The raspberries have taken over my usual garlic patch, so I was already figuring where I could put them next year.
What a wonderful harvest! Your beans are huge! They are so meaty, they look delicious. @Daniel W - thanks for being the kid in class that put their hand up first and asked the question that another kid was wondering hahaha. I was curious about Courgettes as well. I go zuchinni ( courgette) crazy I'm afraid and have nine plants. They just began to produce, and I picked the first wee fruits yesterday. Hopefully I will get four more weeks of harvest. Do you harvest yours when they are small Sjoerd?
