Another day out and another batch of holiday photos. Hope I'm not boring you. Last Friday, we visited the Beaulieu Motor Museum owned by the Montagu family. (http://www.beaulieu.co.uk/beaulieu/index) The Morgan Motor Club of France were visiting. I love Morgans, they are my dream car. A replica of the Delorean from Back to the Future. As you can imagine, Mark was in his element. The original James Bond Lotus Esprit. Now sing along, you all know the words. 'Chitty Bang Bang, chitty chitty bang bang, oh you pretty chitty bang bang.....' There was a gorgeous Jaguar display from ancients motors, right through to the latest model. So many lovely shapely cars, and of course, I can't remember who was which and where! Mark seems to think this was an original Ford Popular. The kids with Mr Bean. We went for a ride in this open top London bus...it was the only time all day it rained! We got soaked. Mark currently has an older Toyota Hilux. He has his sights set on this big boy next. (He tells me in the US it is known as a 1996 4runner) A step back in time Plenty of vitamin C in this orange. Peter Ustinovs Mercedes. Marks dream car - a Shelby Cobra Can't remember it's name, but this has to be the worlds teeniest car! I don't know if you get Top Gear in the States, but it is a motoring show here, and one of their challenges was to make a space shuttle, from a Reliant Robin. I believe they did actually launch it!! And this is Top Gears resident racing driver called The Stig. He is a bit of a legend here in the UK. The children stepped back in time. Me and the boy and his tractor Me and Jessica and her tractor! Now, if you have gotten this far, I will go on to tell you that in the grounds of Beaulieu Abbey, there was a Falconry Display in the afternoon. It was very interesting and I was able to get some nice close up shots of the birds. There was a European Eagle Owl, a Peregrin Falcon, Kestrel, and a selection of American Falcons. I hope you have enjoyed this lazy wander through the museum.
That was a great show. I can well imagine that your man was in his element there. It looks like the kids had fun as well. Those birds of prey at the end of your show caught my eye. Wasn't it nice to see them up close?
I would have to have dragged my daughter away from those cars if she visited Beaulieu. I think she and Mark have the same taste as her dream car would have been the Shelby Cobra too. The car of my dreams would be an old fashioned Riley with polished wooden runners and dash. You certainly got some great shots of those birds of prey!! :-D
