Stopped at a garage sale today and there, with a big Free sign on it, was a big box full of iris rhizomes!!!! I know it's a bit off-season to expect them to do much, but goodness, how can ya top that? Got half of them in the ground today, I'll try the rest tomorrow.
Aren't garage sales funny that way? there'll be scads of things I don't offer a second glance to, that the seller puts a high price on. Then something like a huge box of plants in the free pile. O well, mine is not to question why...

That's true. I got those canna roots for free at a yard sale. Sometimes I've found plants for not too much. Great find on the iris rhizomes. I need to thin my iris's a bit. Dooley

Saw some unbelievable yellow ones blooming in a road median. I'm looking forward to seeing what color I've got, though I'm not much into the bronzey ones.

Lucky you! Last summer I found some boxes of Iris at the side of the road with "FREE" written on them. I snatched them up in a hurry! Some of them are about to bloom.

Wow Netty, that's just nuts! How can anyone have too many iris's? Especially to go to the trouble of thinning them, o well, I may eat my words in a few years. I've got them in 5 beds and am scouting out the next place to plant. Probably the end of my driveway, but I think I'll wait until rain is in the forcast for a few days, as it's too far to water them. I got a daylily to establish down there, iris would be a nice addition to that.

I was tickled pink when I found them! They look like they will have purple blooms. Just my luck though, all my others are purple! Oh well, you CAN'T have to many Iris!

LOL! I should have bought a ticket for sure. I've been running such a string of bad luck lately, you'd think I'd be all over a good streak!
