I'm going to do all my vegetables by seed this year. Cukes Tomatoes which I have done before and Beans Watermelon Pumpkin Peppers etc.. What the best & easiest container to use to start indoors - cowpots, peat pots, plastic cups or a seedling tray ?
Clay, I like to start my seeds in the 6 or 9 plastic containers that are about 2" deep. Peat or paper pots dry out too fast, and larger containers are difficult to move when I need to get them under the lights, or away from them. Hello Clay. I use several different pots, "incubators" and pot sorts. I use the ordinary cells to begin, then plant them on to a somewhat larger cell system (similar to what you ordered) or on to a larger one. --It depends upon what plants I am germination. I also use root trainers for peas, sweetcorn, beans and some brassica's. Your question is not an easy one for me to answer simply and directly...simply because I let the type of plant determine what type of pot or cell I use and whether or not I use a light from above and/or beat from below. I tend to do things a bit too specific...but then, I have the time. If I were not on a sabbatical and worked full time, I would not have the time to be so precise in how I garden. The preciseness adds a positive dimension to the hobby for me. Good luck, mate.
