We have been having odd weather even for my country. That said, there is still work to be done and plants/seeds to be planted. I can't wait forever for that fickle Mother. So then we have been planting pastinak and cleaning the planted beds. Here you can see the bean and courgette patch. We have been weeding other wise. It has been raining all morning here, but we shall go to the lottie this evening and do more cleaning and planting. The kapucijner rack blew over, so we had to fix that. The onions needed weeding...in fact the weeds all over the garden have been growing like gangbusters since all this rain has fallen. The toms are forming in the greenhouse, so we have begun the feeding regimen. For those who like chartreuse and pink---this foto: There hasn't been much time for resting, but here is where we sit---everything is starting to grow a bit now, which enhances the "feel" of the place. First a little fried chook for din-din and we will be off to the lottie on the bikes.
Sjoerd, I love your "Little resting place" I envision you and your bride sitting there, sipping your drink which you took along. Your garden is so neat and productive. Not a weed in sight. I weed almost every day and they spring up overnight. The rains here have kept local farmers from planting. Not a stalk of corn in sight.
We do lots of tea drinking and sitting in-between the work spurts. hahaha. The rain here lately...and now the heat makes working conditions terrible. We have planted the corn, but gotten a rough start and after damaging them, the weather whipped them, over-heated them and now is trying to drown them,,,the corn is now about mid-shin high.
Sjoerd, it seems farmers/gardeners everywhere are having setbacks. Either too much rain or too little. In Michigan, we seem to have plenty of rain and some of our local farmers have been late in planting. Our garden has no shortage of weeds.
When I went out this morning to pull weeds, a gentle rain was falling. It didn't bother me, until my shirt became wet and soon I was cold. Still, I did manage a huge pile of clearing out.
Looks like the perfect place to have a rest! I love your Japanese Forest Grass. I have tried several times and several locations in the yard without success.
You are a dedicated gardener, GP. NETTY--That Japanese grass does seem to like my soil. There are two types on that foto above. They both are prospering. They do best for me in a moist, partly shaded milieu.
Just what does one do with the Japanese grass? Is it edible or simply decorative? I'm overly thrilled, two tomatoes about the size of my thumbnail!
SJ....that is a beautiful spot that you have there!! I would be there all day...all meals, naps, resting, conversations!! Just peaceful it is!! I too. love the Japanese grasses. Your garden is still really so nice.
