My daughter had a play date today with a boy from her old pre-school. They both like bugs and were treated to a visit by this large moth feeding at the black & blue salvia.

My wife was in New York City with girlfriends earlier this week & she brought home a foam Statue of Liberty crown. I found a torch at a Halloween store & I wrapped the little princess in a bed sheet and - voila: the Statue of Liberty in person! (My daughter still has the paw print tattoo on her cheek from the friday night football game, which our high school won!)

your moth seems to be one of those hummingbird moths that some of the others have been showing. Looks like your daughter is all set for halloween.

    caller

Well, truth be told, I wondered if this was in reality my daughter's first "gentleman caller", but they are only 5 years old (my daughter will be 5 on Nov. 1st). They went to pre-school together in the big city, outside of which we live. He loves bugs and so does my daughter. His mother works close to me in the big city. His mother said, he's been missing my daughter & talks of her often. But I really think it was simply a case of mutual interest in entomology. He will not get in the way of her entering the convent of my choice.

Mrs. WTXDaddy (would that be WTxMommy?) scrapbooks like crazy, so I am sure this Statue of Liberty will make it into the books.

And the "good" camera - the one with which I took the hummingbird shots in August - is in the shop & the one I used yesterday on the moth was a little Nikon 5 megapixel thing - cost me $107.00 on a manager's special, because the model is not being made any longer. I got it when WTxMommy shipped the fancy Canon Rebel off for some work. I was shocked at the quality of this moth picture, because I took about 10 and only 3 were worth shucks.

I'm just teasing. In fact, my 4 year old had HER first gentleman caller last week as well. Sure made her father think! We also have a 13 year old daughter and I guess it won't be long before she starts to date.

    Re: caller

My two youngest girls have lots of "boyfriends" calling. My six-year-old claims she's got a "proper boyfriend", she's had the same one for over a year now. :D The middle one used to have a special friend from first through third grade. I'm not particularly worried. They just like to play together, but the older children tease them. And my girls are not the only ones, I'm pleased to say. That have both boy- and girl friends, I mean. Not the teasing part. We don't like that.
