Bignonia is a large native vine. She is smothered with blooms right now. This is my walk through to the shop. Sideview. She is easy maintenance for a 30 footer. The beautiful elliptical leaves stay on for winter interest until the new leaves push them off. Hummers love these vines. The vine generously roots on the ground for transplanting. This one is at my front door. I know I sound sometimes like a plant salesman/cheerleader but Yay Bignonia, get one if you can. She so clearly illustrates what I like to call The Romance of Vines. 8)
That is beautiful Bethie! Anything that the hummers love, I love too! I have a feeling it wouldn't like zone 5 too much...off to google Bignonia!
Beautiful Bethie!! Mine is trying to reach that size but it is not where I can allow it. And sadly there were no hummers at it again this year. Just aren't any in our area anymore.
Glenda, Trumpet Vine (Campsis radicans) and Crossvine (Bignonia capreolata) are different plants that resemble each other. Crossvine is sometimes called Trumpet Flower tho.
WOW Bethie what a show stopper!!!! How I'd love to grow that over my garden arch as I'm sure the bees and butterflies would love it.
Fabulous! It sure does resemble the trumpet vine that I see growing over here. Tempts me into getting one even more!
