I went last Thursday and had a biopsy on that spot on my arm. It was positive so I will go toward the end of the month and have it taken off. Just a reminder if you are out in the sun to use sun screen and check your arms frequently for rough dry spots. I generally have dry skin and just never thought it was anything else especially as a dermatologist I went to for a cancer screening told me I wasn't in a category of people who would be prone to skin cancer. This with my red hair, pale freckled skin and having sunburned every time I went outside until sun screen came along. So, to be safe, just check once in awhile or when you go to the doctor wear short sleeves so he can check for you. It's not a bad kind and is easily removed but it could be a worse kind. dooley
Good luck with that spot on your arm. I've had several spots on my left arm taken off. One left a nasty scar. I cut the arm off an old long sleeved T-shirt and slip that on my left arm when I drive, as it is always in the sun then. Always good to be careful.
Thanks for the reminder, dooley. Our family doc was from Iceland. On our first meeting he jabbed me with a needle, wrenched me down on a bench, pulled out a knife and cut away an ugly-looking spot on my upper left arm. He's back in Iceland now, and we miss him.
Thanks for the reminder Dooley. We wait so long for spring here that we often forget the sunscreen. I'm glad your spot can be easily removed.
Dooley, glad to hear it is the less dangerous kind. My oldest daughter had two on her neck removed two summers ago. She has to go for a complete body check every 6 months after that and because she has bright red hair, light complexion, freckles and sunburns easily.
Dooley Good luck with your arm. Keep us informed on how things go. Very glad to hear its not the bad kind.
Good thoughts coming your way Dooley. Glad you found it and that it isn't the real dangerous type. Keep us posted.
I'm pleased to hear that you're getting the spot removed Dooley and that it's nothing too serious. I was always covered up in the sun as I had red hair, fair skin and freckles but still check my skin on a weekly basis just to be sure.
Good luck with the procedure Dooley -- and thank you for the reminder from another reddish hair, fair skinned, many times sunburned person.
I do have an appointment to get it taken off. I'm sure I have another one on the other arm but when I asked if she could do both at once she said no. It's still small so it's not a problem but I don't know why she couldn't do both at once. dr says it's so she can charge for more visits. doctors have to make a living, too. dooley
I think DR is right Dooley as there's no reason why they can't remove both at once. I'd try asking again when you go for your next appointment.
Good thing it was caught early. Sunblock - we should think like the Aussies and wear sunblock all the time. They even have it as part of their "education system". I am very negligent in that respect myself. SOme mornings I get up and when in too much of a hurry to get out I forget about slapping on some sunblock. Those are the days that I end up looking like a turkey by the afternoon. Thanks for the reminder.
Phew, glad it can be treated. I wear sunblock on my face, arms and neck when I am out working, all year round as it is suprising how a bright January day can pink me up. I went to see the nurse just last week about a suspicious looking mole/freckle on my leg which was itchy and a little sore, but thankfully it was fine, she checked me over, and sent me on my way. however, better to be safe than sorry!
