We have bossy little Carolina wren nesting in the newspaper slot of the mailbox, she flits out and startles the mail lady and anyone else who walks past! The dogs try to catch her! I finally put some boards in the mailbox, she was able to get in and out but no more attacks! I think she felt safer. We bought a new mailbox without a paper slot! And a new birdhouse condo, which she'll have to move into next year. The mailbox was made to slip onto a 4x4 piece of wood which is great because we weren't sure what to do with the crucifix behind the mailbox!
Carolina wrens are notorious for nesting in the most uncommon places. Clothespin bags, coat pockets, hanging plants, and mailboxes have all been called home for a nesting wren. No nook or cranny is safe from this most creative bird. Your bird condo is great, lots of choices. Jerry
