I took some fotos of birds on the lottie and on the adjacent lotties to give an idea of the limited varieties that we have here.
You recognize the adult birds, I am sure; however, I was not able to identify the juvenile perched upon my fingers.

    Hello SOJ...

The word, "lottie" is short for Allotment--and that is a rented parcel of land on which folks grow veggies and or flowering plants...sort of rented a garden, I guess you could say.

How wonderful Sjoerd, they are all lovely. I don't encourage birds because of all my feline friends I have rescued and given a home too. It would not be fair to the birds.

The heron is majestic. I like the swans too, but the baby is my favorite. Adorable thing. :D

Yes, that little baby bird was a cutie-pie. It stayed on my fingers a long toime as it's mum hopped about chilping and fluttering. It finally flew to a Buddleia never to be seen again, although I do see that type bird every year in the late spring. I always wonder if one of them is this little creature.

How in the world did you teach it to land in your hand? I have 2 dogs so I suppose that would stop them from coming close to us...great pictures. I have had a couple small birds almost land on my head when I was filling the feeders at the pergola the other week. I guess they were hungry. I do have an invisible fence that keeps the dogs out of the bird area ..gives the birds peace of mind. Some still fly away when the dogs go outside but some have learned that they are safe from them...I just didn't want the dogs filling up on dropped bird seed and have them start chirping, ha, ha...LOL

Great bird photos Sjoerd. The little one on your fingers is so cute. I keep hoping that the birds in my yard will eventually get used to me so I can at least get some good pictures.

They don't fly away when our dog goes out back, they know he is harmless. He does like to drink from one of the lower birdbaths, guess he likes the taste of bird poop in his water.

Heh heh... I didn't teach it...it was young and did not know any better. It was lucky this time, the next human may not be so friendly.
That dove used to come and sit on that branch inches from my head and became so bold that it would walk around my feet when it was sandwich time. I finally had to get rid of the tree and shoo it off, cause it found my planted seeds finally. :(

Love the bird pictures! The little one on your hand is darling. I've had baby birds come right to me. You're right, they don't know any better.

We don't have doves here, would love to see one.

Just too sweet. That little one is soooo cute.
Great piccies Sjoerd. Lucky you to have all those visitors. My dogs deter all birds that does not look familiar and will only allow the doves (when they do pluck up enough courage to come a enjoy some eatables.
