    Not used to having very much snow so I have to take the opportunities that have come with this stuff. You can see the snow still coming down.

    I love to see birds in the snow as their colours really pop against the white. What a delightful Christmas card your photograph would make (or a winter birthday one.)

    It is a Northern Flicker, used to be called the Red-shafted flicker. This is the female.

    Outstanding photo Kildale. We have the yellow shafted version here. I see them all the time in my neighborhood, but very rarely in my yard.
