After a couple of month our black Phoebe's are back. This pair has been coming here to spent the winter and dine on the berry's of the Pyracantha we planted out by the road in some bad soil. I cant get to close so this is the best pics I got so far.[IMG][/url]

Fascinating bird! I've never seen a black phoebe before, in photos or live. We have Eastern phoebes here in central Texas, and they are one of our favorite birds.

Yet another bird I'm not familiar with. Love the 'hairstyle' they have. :-D

Another benefit of GardenStew, most of us would never see a black Phoebe as they are mainly in Mexico and SW US.

    Thank you for the picture.

Thanks for all the nice answers. I did not know what this bird was and loved the soft sound it makes. My daughter gave me a book called the birds of the southwest and i found out what it was .They love the berry's on the mistletoe and are very scittisch. They will leave when it gets to hot here.

Well, they may be transient, but they look quite interesting to me. Is it typically a desert bird?
That bird is so black that it looks a little like a silhouette. Nice fotos.

They are primarily a desert bird. The latin name is " Phainopepla "
