It's the time of the year when I start each day off wandering around the garden with camera in hand. Actually I have two cups of tea first then I wander and photograph. These tiny beauties have all gone now, I am just a little slow getting photos sized and posted. Dwarf Iris ( photo / image / picture from toni's Garden ) Snapdragons are one of my favorites, they may be annuals most places but down here they winter over just fine..this one was planted in the front yard last spring then moved to this pot last fall. I don't usually buy {{{pink}}} anything so I don't know how these slipped in but they are pretty anyway. Snaps stayed green all winter ( photo / image / picture from toni's Garden ) Erysimum 'Bowles Mauve' (Wallflower, Shrubby Wallflower) stayed green all winter also and started blooming around the 1st of March. Wallflower ( photo / image / picture from toni's Garden ) I have never grown Rhubarb but these darlings are doing great. Since I am not sure they will survive our summer, I am going to harvest anything I can this spring and buy new plants next winter. There are three plants in total but they all look exactly alike so I figured I would just post one photo. My first ever Rhubarb plant ( photo / image / picture from toni's Garden ) I love the look of my strawberry 'garden'. Cheryl has pastel painted tires and I have pastel colored buckets. If the roots don't put up some green in a couple of weeks I will go ahead and buy plants before they sell out. Strawberry pots ( photo / image / picture from toni's Garden )
Great pics A bit ahead of me... I also planted 3 rhubarb seedlings last fall, wondering how they are doing. First time for me too.
Things are really looking-up there. I like the strawberry pots. Very cool indeed. The rhubarb is looking well too. Keep those pics coming as things develop.
I have those pretty little iris too Toni - aren't they lovely? My poor rhubarb got crushed by 4" of snow and then frozen with the hard frosts we've been having. Thankfully they were still in pots so I've moved them into the greenhouse to see if they'll recover. Yours is looking great and has really sprouted since your last photograph of it.
So jealous of the color ... nothing even poking out of the ground here yet! I'm suddenly craving strawberry rhubarb pie
I've been meaning to take some photos of the few things I have blooming already. Maybe I can get to this weekend. BUT... it sure is nice to see you having color out there already. And I love the strawberry pots! I hope they produce well for you.
Those iris are darling! I can only dream of spring. Tomorrow is pea planting day...yeah, right! rain, snow, freezing rain etc. for the next week.I don't think we are going to be on schedule this year. So ready for spring. BUT the good news is that at this rate the orchards will have a peach crop this year. Last year they were in full bloom at this time. and then they got froze out so we had no peaches to speak of in the area.
