Actually there have been 5 butterflies flitting around my yard for about a week. Only one was kind enough to pose for me tho.
Cabbage Whites are always the first on the scene every spring, then a Clouded Sulphur came around looking for something to drink. A few days ago I started seeing a huge Giant Black Swallowtail swooping around the front and back yards, today I saw a second smaller one. Now I will definitely have to keep a close eye on the Parsley plants that are already huge, one in front and one in back, looking for tiny yellow eggs. We don't eat Parsley, I just planted them for the butterflies.

Then today I found this Hackberry sunning himself out back. He had evidently just left the chrysalis since he just sat there completely still in the sun warming up for several minutes. Then flew away.

I realized that I had not posted this picture of the display of Dutch Iris that happened last month. They used to have an old wheelbarrow in front of them but that has been moved out front. I really need to thin the herd there.

The Freedom Hedge Roses are beginning to bloom and this one is very photogenic.

Two years ago I made a blog entry titled Adventures of Blaze, the Climbing Rose. Well Blaze has grown and is blooming this year.

The Purple Clematis has just been blooming it's little heart out. I can't find the tag for it so does anyone have an idea of it's name?

Wow. Butterflies. *whistful sigh* I saw a painted lady fluttering by while we were out riding on Sunday. They're the first ones here. :)

You've got lovely blooms too. I don't know which clematis you have there. Did you see any double blooms on it?

Single purple/blue ones could be "Eyres Gift", "Ken Donson", "General Sikorsky" and probably several others.

Gosh you have roses and clematis already - not to mention butterflies!! I did see a couple of Painted Ladies last week-end and the bubble bees are out and about. However, my clematis and roses are still fast asleep.
