Just a few photos of some plants that I'm growing for the first time.
Top of the list is the Hyacinth Bean Vine (got the seeds from Toni).
I love the flowers and the fact that the vines aren't extremely dense.

Plus its Beans are the prettiest purple. I picked alot of them and then realized I hadn't taken a photo. So this one is a bit dark.

And here's the first bloom on my first Coneflower.

The newly planted Red Autumn Sage put on its first flowers too. I can't wait until it's all grown up and full of these wonderfully-colored blooms.

And lastly... the Mammoth Sunflower. Or should I say "Wanna-be-Mammoth" Sunflower! I'm sure if it would have been getting the right amount of water all year, it would have gotten to it's proper size. But it's still hanging in there and does brighten up the fence along the driveway... a lone bright little smiling face.
    :-D

Your new blooms are doing really well, don't you just love the different colors. My HBVs are growing but have yet to bloom, I have to keep reminding myself that you are a zone or two warmer than me so of course you have blooms and I don't :'(

Interesting Hyacinth Bean Vine, especially the purple bean. Can you do anything with the beans besides replant them?

I have read that the beans are edible but don't taste very good and they have to be cooked when young and tender.

Thanks everyone... I am surprised and pleased to have some new flowers actually blooming. I'm very proud to be able to show Toni that her HBV seeds are doing well down here!
I did forget one plant. Summer Snapdragon I think it's called. The name on the tag as Serena Angelonia (angustifolia). Got it from the mark-down rack last year and it managed to survive being over-wintered in the garage.
It's in the little butterfly garden... actually only 1 of 2 things blooming in it right now.

I love the Summer Snaps, haven't gotten any this year mainly because they are just now showing up in the garden centers and it is too blasted hot to go shopping. But I hope to get there tomorrow morning

Toni... It can be too hot to work. It can be too hot to play. Even too hot to sleep or eat.
But never too hot to go shopping for plants!
    :-D
