I was looking out the window at the pergola area and noticed a group of birds flying around my bird feeders and houses. I had to get my camera and take a closer look. It was just starting to get dark but they were really checking the place out...

Great fotos Sherry. Do you think that they will take up residence?--or are they passing through at the moment. If they are, perhaps they will remember your "Motel". Fingers crossed for you.
    They are gorgeous birds.

It looks as though the bluebirds approve of what you've done for them Sherry. Let's hope they move in and set up home come spring.

They teased me earlier this spring with flying around and looking at things. I even went out and bought a blue bird house for them and the sparrows moved in because they didn't make up their little minds...I had 2 other small houses and we got them all cleaned last weekend. We didn't get the large one that they were peaking in cleaned....it is so hard to get down...in fact once you disconnect one thing it comes down fast and almost got us last year...the sparrows move in every spring. I have to do a little investigating to see if they do stay all winter, this is the first year I have ever seen them in Wisconsin...I know they like mealworms but I am not willing to serve them..ick...so I will check and see what else they like.

It would be nice if they took up permanent residence. I did see them on walks in the woods near our house..

Looks like they are very interested in the 'bird motel'. They were really checking things out. Hope they stay or will be back. Lovely pictures ...again.

I really like the bluebirds. Every photo I see of them look like a fine painting. :D Must be the unusual (for us) colour combination.

They always stop by in spring but never stay. I think our lot is too wooded, and not open enough for them. We certainly have enough bugs, though...I wish they'd take up residence here.

What great shots Sherry! We are supposed to have bluebirds here but I've never actually seen one. I've not had time to enjoy my birds lately so thank you for sharing yours. I truely enjoyed it!

tschnath....this is the first year I have ever seen them in Wisconsin...I have no idea why I haven't noticed them before this year...maybe they are changing habits or something. I did see them in the middle of summer in some large trees when we took a walk in the neighborhood so I think they stayed around from spring when I saw them until now. I am anxious to see if they will return this winter.

Sherry what great pics! I love bluebirds and we've been lucky enough to see ours stay year round. I agree with you, the mealworms are disgusting but they also love fruit. I've already left raisins, dried cranberries and cut up grapes for them and they seem to be happy with that. Good luck!

Mandy...thank you for the tip about fruit for the Blue birds. I haven't noticed them here which is good right now because the Cooper's Hawk is making his visits more often...I would hate to see one of them his lunch...Sherry
