I don't get many bird visitors to the garden because of all the cats i reside with,..but this morning this Blue Tit was feeding on insects in the Scotch Broom,..just outside my back door.

While taking some lettuce from the garden i spotted a Lady Bird among the leaves,..quickly i put it back in the garden,..a useful little creature.

Great shots!! I have a few families of Blue Tits visiting my garden at the moment. Along with all the other newly fledged baby birds they're eating black sunflowers as if there's no tomorrow. They're still getting plenty pf insects and caterpillars to munch on too and spiders seem to be a firm favourite.

I've only seen one Lady Bird this year so far. I don't know why but there just aren't many around here this year.

Philip, how large are the blue tits? It looks like a miniature Blue Jay.

    Hi Eileen,
that was my first view of a Ladybird as well,..other years there would be plenty around.
Plenty of spiders of course,..and the midge are out,..scratch,..scratch!.

    Hi Jerry,
the Blue Tit is smaller than a Sparrow,..and bigger than a Wren,..so quite a small bird with fast jerky movements,..the one i posted is very young so not as blue on its back as a mature one,..nor not as yellow on the tummy either.
I can see how you would be thinking small Blue Jay,..until you know the size.

Nice fotos of the blue tit. I liked seeing the ladybirds as well.
It looks like the wildlife there is on the move. Do they know how good they've got it in your fancy garden?

We've got those in our garden. :D The cats try to catch them but they know about the cats and avoid them. At least most of the time. We've also got the great tit and the willow tit. Right now we've got a pair of sparrows emptying the feeder. I guess they find that easier than having to chase bugs. :D
