I have been told variously that these low shrubs are wild blueberries or huckleberries, but they don't seem to look like any of the photos I've searched, esp the foliage.

I live on the Chesapeake Bay in Virginia.

    Thoughts?

The leaves look like Bog Huckleberries to me....
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Huckleberry
The wild Huckleberry has the pointed leaves similar to Blueberries.
According to the info the main difference is the number of seeds...Blueberries have several tiny seeds while the Huckleberry has 10 large ones.

Huckleberries and Blueberries are in the same Genus and in some areas the names are interchangeable to most people. You might have to wait until the fruit ripens so you can count the seeds to ID it for certain.
