The blueberries are in. My wife and I took our daughter-in-law to a nearby u-pick farm yesterday and we got over eleven pounds. At $3.25 a pound it beats the supermarket hands down. Plus, no pesticides and we're supporting local farmers. Only in Central Florida can you find palm trees and magnolia trees mixed in with the blueberries. That's my kind of "eclectic" farming.
The U-pick Blueberry farm closest to us won't be ready for business until June. We love going over there, the little town is an 'artist colony' and has a really good burger and steak place so it makes for a whole day. I'll have to look around next time, no palms for sure, there might be a Magnolia in a yard across the road from it but I know there will be Mesquite trees in abundance.
Me blues are only partially in bloom at the moment, so seeing your great foto's are a joy. I have such a long way to go and also must fleece them every few days, as it is still freezing some nights. But what a great deal, mate. What are your plans for all those berries that you bought?
I will have to keep my eyes open...I have never noticed any place with signs to pick your own blueberries, just strawberries around here. We have such a short growing season and that might be the reason. We love blueberries at our house.
