Got letter either pay more-or will cover less. Had paid for it in April. Didn't get letter-mailman could not go across road-was flooded. Not deep. So I went to insurance lady. Government sets rate.
And said they will raise rates in storm damage areas.
All $$$$ spent on wars. Could have levees and storm shelters
I paid more-but firing e-mail to my Congress man. :(

I'm sorry. They always find a way to stick it to ya. The news reported they are expecting a busy hurricane season for us in Florida. Shortly after the news also reported a cut in future storm aid for us too. So basically they scare you then and let you know your on your own basically. :(

Bummer for sure. There is no such thing as disaster proof places to live on this planet. [though some people are not bright and build in places like beachfronts] But ordinary farmland ought to be covered.

Bummer, it seems we need farmland not bog land. Insurance would assure farmers of help in bad years.

I had no damage .Only thing in 40 years When sump-pumped burned out $90 motor to wood-burning furnace. But after helping friends and DH aunt-gut their lovely home. City of Cedar Rapids told people to PREPARE for 2-3 feet. Was 12 feet. We have moved breaker box-furnace up stairs.
