Hubby called up his garden partner, my cousin, to come help harvest the corn. Don't tell them... but I'm posting their photo online (cuz is the one in the black).

I think Hubby said he counted around 100 ears. There's a bit more still out there... but I think this is will be about it.
Just imagine what they could have done if we had any rain at all this year?

Wish ours had done as well. :( Someone (or two) is a natural born veggie gardener. No wonder they look a trifle proud!

The corn pot will be working overtime with that harvest. :)

It's very yummmy!!!! Nice and sweet. And yes... they were very proud... especially Hubby since he has really been the one tending to everything. My cousin was so tickled that he brought Hubby over a 12-pack of cold beer!

Goodness, gracious, sakes alive, that is some fine corn harvest. They only planted that garden in April didn't they?
Hope there was some left to freeze and save for the winter.

We'll be dividing it up and distributing some to all the aunts. Plus my brothers get some to take home too.
My oldest brother will be visiting at the end of July (from California)... so I want to make sure we freeze some for him. And then my sister (also from California) will be here in Sept.... so definitely have to save her some too.
After that... not sure how much will be left over for winter! :-D

Fantastic. I daren't show this pic to number one son as he would be begging to come over for supper as he loves corn on the cob. yum....with melted butter and one of those cold beers. :) My corn plants are still tiny - I should print the pic out and take it to the allotment to show my poor little plants, give them something to aspire to. :)

Well... today was the end of the corn. The last few ears were picked. My "good" brother came over with this wood chipper. So they pulled up the stalks and before you knew it... 2 rows of corn stalks were reduced to one of those tow-behind-your-lawn-tractor wheel barrows. Still can't decide on whether to use it as mulch or add it to the compost pile. I'm leaning towards mulch. Guess we'll figure it out in the morning.

Oh me, oh my--what a marvelous harvest, Cheryl!
I'm like EJ nad only have short, little plantlets, so I have a ways to go yet. They were planted deep and have plenty of water--so I am hoping for a decent harvest.

Do you think that your cobs were shorter...or thinner than last year?
I would have liked to have seen a pic of an ear with some shucks pulled down.

A big congrats to you guys for your efforts.
