I just potted up eight rose cuttings! They have good strong root systems and are ready to move out into the real world of soil. The cuttings were taken in early to mid-November, and have been in a mix of vermiculite and perlite under plastic domes since then. I should have waited until tomorrow and gotten the New Year off to a "rosy" start!
"Rosy Start", ,nice one!,i love to hear someone doing well with rose cuttings,i hope they all thrive for you.
Oh I'd love to be able to help you plant those roses outdoors. Sadly it looks as though there's more snow predicted for us here in Scotland. I guess I've got a while to wait before playing in the dirt again..I hope all those 'babies' survive and grow well for you. You must show us photographs of them as they grow and flower for you.
Gosh, I hope they grow well and bloom like crazy, too! I'm under a lot of pressure here--most of the cuttings are from a 100-year-old rose bush at the church manse up the road. I got permission to take cuttings, and now the entire congregation (all 18 of them) are anxious to see how they do. If they fail, I may be excommunicated (or whatever the Protestant equivalent is!). I've asked the minister to include the cuttings in the prayer circle.
Its almost the reverse with me,i supply the church next door with roses throughout the flowering season, and have planted a rose bush alongside the church, its thriving, now i need a second rose bush of a different rose colour.
Congrats on your success, MG-- I sure do hope that they bloom well for you. I hope that you keep us updated with fotos.
