Hey, Folks; I've got another unknown (by me) plant.. Pics posted following this description.... The flowers are bright orange in color, tubular or trumpet shaped, about 4"(10cm) long... The stems/canes/vines on which the flowers and leaves grow, get quite long. First pic I'm standing about 15' from plant, camera is pointing approximately 15 degrees above horizontal; this info is to give you an idea of the plants size. ??PLANT-1 ??PLANT-2 ??PLANT-3 And just for grins a pic of my newest hat/cap. Campsis radicans A lovely vine, mine is blooming now, too. :-D But keep an eye on it, it can be rather aggressive in some situations. Yep, that's the perfect description in fact, it's common names are "Trumpet Creeper" or "Trumpet Vine"
That is also known as Trumpet vine? Right? If so, yes its very aggressive!! Some people have a hard time killing it! I only wish i had some growing here. i tried, but never could get it started.
What very pretty vine. I know now what I'm going to go buy. I've been looking for an aggressive vine for this zone.
We bought a trumpet vine. We planted in in about September because we got it on sale. The first year, it grew about six feet tall. It died back in winter and last year and so far this year it is about 30 inches tall and has stopped growing. It seems to being staying there. It gets a lot of water and I fed it but it doesn't grow. It stays green but doesn't flower. Dooley

Hank it grows wild here in Texas.It is on every fence line and takes them down some times .I love the flowers and the seeds just hang from them so anyone wanting seeds from them let me know in a Pm with address.When they dry I'll send them to you.I do not have any growing around my house and don't wont them.I'll enjoy them from the car .I do love the little Trumpets and they are beautiful but impossible to stop probably not in every zone but for sure in this one.
Hummingbirds LOVE it! I just planted a similar one, but in pink...I think they like the orange better. It is agressive, but oh so beautiful when covered with flowers!
They grow wild in Delaware too. Not as many as we used to because of all the new housing going up. We had great times when we were little picking them. The flowers fit great on the ends of little fingers...to have 'long red fingernails', or 'witch fingers'. We have some near the the lane at work. Often hummingbirds are hanging around.
