It got cold this morning! It's 34 deg F now and will probably get to 32 before it starts to warm up. Got a fire in the wood burner this morning and it's the earliest in the season that I have ever burned one in 28 years of using it. I think my maters will be done for after this morning!

Despite the weather forecasts we had our first light frost last night CK. Even for here in Scotland that's a tad early in the year. I hope you have enough split logs to last through, what seems to be, a very cold winter ahead.

Tues. I was mulching leaves and saw several Wooley Bear caterpillars. They are supposed to predict the winter by their coloring. These were black at the head maybe 1/8 th of an inch and maybe 1/16th of an inch at the rear end and light brown in the middle. This is supposed to indicate snow at the beginning of winter and the very end of winter, but light in between. I sure hope the are right! The talking heads on TV are saying that fuel and electric prices for heating will stay lower for the winter.

I'm cold too, and wet. It's pouring. :( And it's so dark it could be evening, even if it's the middle of the day.

I've got the woodstove burning tonight too! It was cold today and I had to dress in layers for work. And yes, I wore woolies and my long underwear! It's much too early for this cold weather!

I'm glad we are not looking at freezing temperatures. It was 87 here today and down in lower 70's tonight. It's the up and down here that's got my head messed up. I have to keep the box of tissues handy for when my nose decides to start dripping. You people in the colder climes take care now and stay warm. dooley

I haven't been able to get on the past few days, so just catching up here.
Very early Thursd. morning we woke up to frost over the grass and over our vehicles. I had to let the car defrost and warm up before taking my daughter to school. Lowes got into the 20's. Sunny throughout the day. Now they're calling for for clouds and rain rolling in for Friday and Saturday.

No frost here in Essex I am glad to report. Picked another huge basket of tomatoes this afternoon after work. However, there was a nip in the air this morning. Hot water bottle time me thinks.
