It got down to 24 deg. F this morning. I think the daffodils sucked their buds back in and are trying to crawl back into the ground! They are saying 1 to 2 inches of snow for Sun. morning! When I went to exercise this morning, someone had written Welcome Spring on the notice board. Then someone else drew a line through Sping and wrote Winter... Again .
According to a local weather person we will get March temperatures in April. To quote a saying from the old Carol Burnett show "Isn't that just precious." I wonder if April will be windy, May rainy, and June has flowers? Perhaps we can cancel next winter. Jerry
In same boat, Capt. We had snow last night, drizzle today, and more snow in the forecast. Chilly for a few days ahead I'm afraid. :'(
Looks like we're stuck doing inside things. Maybe I'll go start some seeds. Then I will feel like I'm making progress. I did rake some beds today. Jerry
Well, gosh, what can I say! I'm sitting here with my air conditioning going. It was 87 out this afternoon and I had to work fast to get those tomatoes into the ground and watered before they melted. I'll turn the a/c off before going to bed but the rooms in this mobile home heat up quickly in summer and cool off just as quickly in winter. I have 13 tomato plants, 12 cucumber plants and 3 eggplants in my small garden area. I have two short rows of beans growing. You people must be living in the wrong place. My son called from Arizona where we did live and they had snow this week. I knew there was a reason why we moved to Texas two years ago. I swatted a mosquito on my arm this week. That's officially summer in my book. dooley
Gee Dooley, I'll just have to check back in July, it will be 87°F here then. Will it still be 87°F there too? Mosquitos? I will let you know when summer arrives here......Last time iI checked our mosquitos were ice skating on the pond. I thought the mosquitoes in Texas were so large that they needed air traffic controllers to land on people. I can tell already that we're going to have too much fun this summer. Jerry
Low this morning was 22 F and the wind is out of the north east. Went out to feed the birds and bring in fire wood and like to have froze.
If the wind would come from the right direction we could use some of Dooley's heat. 87+22=109/2=54.5°F Then Dooley would not have to swat mosquitos Jerry
It's going to be 90 here today. I went out early and we got the mulch around all of the tomatoes and cucumbers and half of the rose bushes. I do not enjoy swatting mosquitos but someone has to do it. They make big lumps when they bite dr. We generally use that spray OFF but I wasn't expecting them this early. Plus we haven't had all that much rain so where did they breed. dooley
Supposed to be 85 here today. Capt, if I could get the SW winds to blow this heat cap up your way, and up to Jerry too, I would do it in a heartbeat....maybe a little dancing in the moonlight would help. Shoot I am about ready to try anything!! Stagnant ponds that haven't had any water movement from rain for a few weeks is one of the mosquitos favorite breeding grounds. And shady, moist areas where water runs from watering lawn/gardens like under porches, etc. Sometimes you just can't get rid of them no matter how hard you try.
Toni, Dooley, Could ya fan some of your hot air up north to me? I'm not that far away... it is snowing here :'(
