but bali has been having internet issues, hasn't posted in a while but is planning on being back in a few days.
It's good to know that it's internet problems keeping her away and not ill health. Thanks for getting in touch to let us know. :-D
Thanks for letting us know. She is a good poster here and we are missing her. Will look foreward to her return.
Thanks Bestofour I made it back yesterday. Guess what? No one knows what was wrong .Staples was trying hard to sell me norton. My server denied any problem. Maybe they are trying me? Thanks sheri for helping , by posting. I went to the public library an recieved an internet card an it was free. Now I know where to go, if all else fails. Now for fun again.;o)
I'm glad you're home! I've been having email issues and it is about to make me crazy Isn't it amazing how much we like our computers, when they are working? I don't think I've had anything more trying or frustrating than computer problems. To make a short story long...I'm glad you got it fixed and I feel your pain
stratsmom My words exactly. If only the servers an sellers would tell the truth , life would be easier on compute. I really think the computer guys were rotten to the core. First wanted to sell me more warrantys. I have 4 years. They promised to call me when done. 10 days an no calls. When I went in 3 times, they were trying to sell me on Norton for virus pro. I just threw that away .$70. So far they got $400. out of me since January. Dont buy from Staples .. THey work hand an hand with dell computers. barb
That is really too bad Barb... I know you hate feeling taken advantage of. I found a little independent computer shop near my home, run by a local guy. I took my old computer there for repairs and they gave me good advice. I wound up buying the laptop I currently have. I go to them for repairs and tune-ups. They are fantastic and I trust them. It's like finding a good car mechanic that you trust. Hard to do, but once you do, you stick with them... I hope you can find someone you trust for your computer.
daisybeans The problem is Staples has the warranty for 4 years. My bad luck. My nephew knows some, so I am goin to jive with him an see what is best. If one gets a laptop, you have to get a router , right? Can I set the router up myself or do I need to get the server to do that? Still thinking. Thanks for the advice . barb
I can only tell you my experience.... I bought a laptop and a wireless router almost 2 years ago now. The computer guys at the shop had it all arranged so that I would be able to connect it at home myself (they would talk me through it and come do it if necessary). All went according to plan until I got to a certain point and then it turned out that the Internet Service Provider that I use had some settings that they alone had to configure. They had to come out and do it. They didn't charge me, but it was inconvenient to have to wait for them. Other people I know who use a different provider have been able set theirs up on their own. Also, when I switched from broadband to fiberoptic, the provider installed a new router. There are a LOT of wires in that cabinet for wireless!!! That's my story, Barb... Hope you get it worked out. Sounds a little bit exciting, as computers go. PS -- I love the laptop for its convenience. Can sit anywhere in the house, even on the porch, hook into wireless in public places... amazing. Can't imagine going back to desktop for what I do with computer. Only thing, I bought an external hard drive to store pictures and music because the amount of memory on laptop was filling up. I'm not sure if that is same with all laptops or mine just has less memory and you could get more if you wanted. Something else to consider and ask someone who really knows.
Thanks for the input. I ask millions of questions before I leap.LOL This is my evening entertainment , cause hd an I differ in tv shows.. I hate to listen to his politic programs. b
