    Buckeye Butterfly ( photo / image / picture from kathyd's Garden )

    Saturday my husband and I visited a favorite beach along the Delaware Bay. I found a lot of sea glass and irridescent oyster shells. The area was full of butterflies also. Monarchs and Buckeye Butterflies were abundant, as were some unknown yellows, and a variegated species. I took a closeup of this beautiful buckeye on a goldenrod plant. The detail on his wings is amazing.

    Thanks, I saw a few today near my home, but they didn't seem to be quite as vibrant.

    Very cool! I don't think I've ever seen one of those (in person on in a photo). Great photo of real beauty!

    Its a beauty,..well captured,..the butterfly appears to stand out from the remainder of the picture.

    Yes, he does appear to stand out. I took a look and do see what you mean Philip. You can see his tail shadow on the leaf below and to the right, so that anchors him in a bit. I have seen a few of these around my home, but none have been so large or as vibrant as the ones I saw near the bay.
