thanks every one! reading your lovely comments put a smile on my face....i think i can go out in the heat now and work some more! :D

btw, with the Red Miracle Corn, i tried something new this year. i planted it in 6-7 inch homemade paper pots very early, then transplanted when the ground was warm enough....which was very late this year. it gave the plants a good head start!

Fantastic! We grew purple beans again this year, I think they are called "Royal Burgundy". They out performed both my green and yellow beans in previous years so that's all I plant now. They turn green when they are cooked.

Your Ezeer Perennial Wheat is quite intriquing. Has it met your expectations? It is definitely something I would like to grow. Where did you find the seed?

thanks sjoerd! i've been canning for a couple weeks now, the purple and some green beans. those in the pic above are giant beans (dried beans). a friend in Canada gave me 5 seeds and they're producing giant pods! they're called 'GROS JACQUOT DE SOISSON' OR ''HARICOT DE SOISSON'. i'm so excited! here's a pics of them my friend posted...

    http://i307.photobucket.com/albums/nn31 ... _id161.jpg

jewell, i bought the seed from Peters Seed and Research here:

    http://www.psrseed.com/

they were out of it last year, but are supposed to have some next year, this next season. i restarted a thread on 'grain' where i updated my progress (the old thread was locked).

netty, the purple pole beans are fast becoming our favorite too! we grew 'TRIOFO VIOLETO POLE' this year for the first time from a friend in Canada, and it beat all the purple pod varieties we've grown and some others we've tried. the plants produced and are still producing over 9 inch purple beans that are a 1/2 inch wide, and so tender and tasty. i've been canning them for a couple of weeks now too. got lots of large 'bumpy' beans i'm saving for seed for trade and next year.

took a few more pics the other day...

More great fotos, Bunkie. It is so nice to see what you are growing. Congrats on your successes. Very nice.

That's an interesting bean, JACQUOT DE SOISSON. Is it the idea to grown them for the beans inside the pod, or does one cut the pods in pieces and cook bean, pod and all--like regular beans? I saw iun the bpic that you canned the bean"seeds" only, but I was just wondering if that was the only way to to it.
