If you have experience with these please fill me in. Was looking at some on the Burpee site and just am unsure if I should chance it on them. Do they really bush, or is it just a plant that doesn't get as big?
I planted bush cucumbers a couple of years. The only difference I could see was the vines didn't get as long or spread as much. They had just as many cukes and they tasted the same.
Tried the "bush" cuke last year, was terribly PLEASED with results! They DO have vines but they only get about 3 feet long, are very easy to manage. I only had two plants: ate cukes (in sour cream with onions and fresh basil) every day; had enough to make refidgerator/dill pickles also as they turned out to be very heavy producers. Needless to say, they're on the agenda again for this year.
I'm so glad someone asked that question...I also have them on my list from Burpees but have never tried them and wanted to this year...I'm glad that they taste and produce well...thanks for the thumbs up!!!!
Awesome, thanks for the great feedback! What varieties did you guys grow? Bush Champion sounds good but they had 2 or 3 others I believe.
Burpees Salad Bush Hybrid #54007A is what I grew last year and hope to grow a couple more plants this year in my 18-gal totes.
