These will do in either full shade or part shade.... Abelia x grandiflora 'Edward Goucher' (Pink Abelia) or Abelia X grandiflora You get pretty Mahonia bealei (Beale's Barberry, Leatherleaf Mahonia)
Skimmia japonica is good down to zone 6 but must have protection from wind and sun. Winter sun can also damage them. Need a male and female plant for berries. Male plants have the best flower sprays, but no berries.
