Here is some more butterfly fun from October 20th. My daughter put on a clinic: How To Catch A Monarch With Your Bare Hands: Here are some pictures of the visiting royalty: When releasing one of the Monarchs, it lingered on her nose a while. When a Monarch leaves your nose, it leaves "tickles" behind.
Oooh, I really like the butterfly in the second photo! And I love the photos of your daughter and her nose adornment. Wish I could give her nose a rub.
What great fotos--deep rich colours that they butterflies have...and that foto of the butterfly on your child's nose is really a good one. hahahaha What a sight!
Wonderful photos.Your daughter interacts really well with the butterflies.I really like the second picture too.
I have no idea what kind of butterfly that second one is. I just noticed while taking pictures, that it is not a Monarch. At least, I don't think it is, unless there is a variation of Monarch I didn't know about.
Beautiful pictures...it looks like you have a great butterfly garden, and what a wonderful way to get your daughter involved. Ours are all gone for the season now, so take care of them for us down there!
I got high speed today WTxDaddy so I'm finally able to view your photos! You snapped some great photos there. I especially love the ones of your daughter with the butterfly on here nose! Well done!
That second butterfly looks like the Queen butterfly (Danaus gilippus). It's a thing of beauty, isn't it?
Thanks, Sjoerd! I googled danaus gilippus & found a nice site w/ photos. I can now say with confidence that the third butterfly is the Variegated Fritillary, Euptoieta claudia
