I took over an abandoned butterfly garden at my school and this mystery plant came up this Spring. It's growing in direct sun in Houston, has alternate stems coming off the main woody branch with three leaves on each stem. So far there are no blooms. I've tried for sometime to figure out what this is to no avail. Can anyone help ID this plant? Thanks.

I've seen this somewhere... but for the life of me can't think of what it is!
I'm sure one of others here will get you an answer quickly.

Thanks for your comment. Do you have any clue whether it's a weed or something I would want in my garden? If it comes to you, please let me know. It's baffled plenty of people at this point.

Honestly.... I think it's a weed or a tree. I'll have to look around my place to see if I can find it and take a photo to compare. I'll be away for a few days but will definitely try to help when I return.
