My daughter discovered the front flower beds teaming with butterflies. Most of them were Painted Lady butterflies, but there were others - including Monarchs! My neighbor said, they're all migrating to Mexico.
Isn't it beautiful when you find a sight like that. I found a lot of butterflies this summer at the campground. It's only when there are a lot of them that I can get a picture of them. Your daughter made a great find. dooley
Very nice butterfly pics, WTD, The marigolds are lovely as well. I believe that your neighboiut is right--it is about time that the monarchs migrate down to Mexico. What a sight they are when they get there....thousands and thousands sitting all over the trees.
I'm so glad the butterflies stopped off to feed in your garden. They certainly make some beautiful photographs don't they? :-D
Lovely butterflies, and lovely colours in your borders too! I'm glad those beauties landed in your garden so we got to see them.
What a treat to see the beautiful butterflies in your garden. A rare sight nowadays in our part of the world. Thanks for sharing these lovely photos
Take care of those butterflies for us northerners. The Monarchs fill my yard all summer...I leave the wild milkweed grow in my flower beds to provide food for the caterpillars, and we're rewarded all summer. It's amazing that those little creatures can fly so far each year.
Dallas/Ft. Worth area where I am has been on the far east edge of the Monarch migration path this year. I have been seeing some flutter by and there are still a few around this week. I am hoping they found the two Milkweed plants out front. They are pretty small yet so I might have to wait until their trip north next spring then hopefully they will leave some eggs behind for me.
What a great sight to find...I just saw a Monarch last weekend flying around...no sun and the weather was windy and chilly...thanks for sharing..
