There is a whopping big storm moving over us now and the power just went out. The computer is on a backup power supply but I will be shutting it down now.

    See you all later. ;)

Make sure to plug out your modem from the phone line Toni, lightning can blow it out. See you shortly!

Are you still blacked out? Hope there's no serious damage around you.

I am back. It is almost 5 pm and the power just came on about 10 minutes ago so that's roughly 6 hours it was off.

The first 30 minutes was the most interesting part. No lightning at all and very, very little thunder but
the winds were fierce for about 30 minutes then we got about 3/4 inch of rain in about 20 minutes. After that everything settled down and we just had to wait until the crew from the power company got the juice flowing again.

There is a row of about 10 houses around the corner from us whose property is along a fairly large main road, about half of those homeowners will come home this afternoon to find their 8 foot tall wood privacy fences laying flat on the ground. We have a 10 foot tall Pecan tree right in front of the house and at times it was bent horizontal to the ground by the wind gusts, thankfully it is still thin and flexible. But no damage here, I think because of all the trees we have around the backyard the wind doesn't get a chance to reach the ground when it is coming from the north like it was today.

Appears to be more rain heading our way later this evening. Boy when that heat cap that spends most springs and summers over us breaks the storms we get are stronger than they would be without the cap getting in the way first.

Wow! We are supposed to have rain tonight, I hope the winds die down before it starts! Most of my neighbors lost fences the last round a week ago.
It took all the strength Patrick and I had to hold down the gazebo from taking off!

Glad you had no damage Toni!

I'm happy to hear nothing befell you or the yards. Sorry about those people's fences, but at least those can be put back up.

glad to hear your o.k. Our weather here is about ridiculous for spring going into summer. raining and very chili like 55-60 deg F. and windy. We've had to drag our fall jackets back out.

Thanks for the concern you all.
Everything here is fine. Our power was only off for about 6 hours but on the 10 p.m. news last night there were still a reported 35,000 homes and businesses that were without electricity at that time.

There had been a slight chance of more rain overnight but that storm ended up going southwest of us.
