Cactus ID, please

    A man brought these cactus to the farmer's market yesterday. He called them lemon cactus and said they were from New Mexico. I've never seen a cactus with leaves like these. He said the flowers start out light colored and change to dark red. When the flower falls off you can pick the shoot and plant it and another plant will grow. The only thorns are on the big main stock. They are about half an inch long. The leaves are smooth like a tree leaf, not fuzzy or sticky. It has many flower buds on it.

    I told the man I would try to find out what it is. He did say that it is susceptible to frost.

    It looks like my crown of thorns in a way but it doen't have fruits are blooms like those.I do not think its the crown of throns unless its a different
    kind.
