Could our members on the other side of the pond post some pics of the area's in which they live? Most of us people here in the states have never been there and for me there is little chance that I ever will. The places I am thinking of are, Eileen in Scotland, Frank in Sweden and Droopy in Norway. I have one of the pics that Droopy posted of the fijord as wallpaper now and it is just beautiful. Thanks in advance. :D

Some pretty pictures there. Also some that were fairly bleak looking.

You probably already know CK that I live in a 17th century cottage in West Lothian, Scotland. Our cottage is a B listed building as are the local inn and all the houses in the Main Street where we live.
Here are a few piccies for you from our village.

The Livingstone Inn which used to be one of the main coaching inns on the old Edinburgh to Glasgow road.

Village Square looking at the side of the old manse.

    Our cottage.

The River Almond which flows through the valley at the back of our house.

    Church and churchyard.

    Village Hall.

This building was once a large farmhouse (one of two in the village) but is now an epilepsy centre.

Looking down at our street fromn the churchyard.

The only working farm still left in the village but now it doubles as a Heritage Centre.

Apologies for most of the piccies being rather big but it's the only way to show the detail of the buildings clearly. I'll go back to 'normal' sized photographs from now on.

Great pictures! I just love old buildings and scenery from other countries. Eileen - what is a "B listed building"?

Great pics Eileen. Exactly what I wanted to see. I have been to England but have never been to Scotland. Your village is just as I had pictured it in my mind. Thanks for the pics.

Frank, those Connemara photos really tempted me! I've always liked Connemara ponies, but never thought their home would look so lovely.

Eileen, I adore old villages, and yours is no exception. All that history!

Really splendid Eileen, your village is charming and quite beautiful,
and your cottage is a gem in the perfect setting!

Loved the pix you found, Frank,
Connemara is clearly a wee bit o' heaven on earth. :-D

I have been thinking the same thing Capt. If/when I find some part of this area worth photographing and sharing I will.
But after seeing the beautiful village Eileen lives in, the gorgeous countryside of Ireland and the stunning fjords of Norway...there is nothing around here that ranks anywhere close to picturesque or interesting.

Love all the pictures. I feel like I should have jet lag and be unpacking my luggage. I know I will never get to travel to any of these places and this was just awesome. Next best thing!

Yoy know I just got to thinking, even though we may not think the area in which we live is interesting, it just may be to other people. I am sure that the majority of the people haven't been to your little corner of the world. I traveled quite extensively while in the Navy and there is a lot of the world that I haven't seen. So yall need to get off your duff's and get some pics took!

Randy and I were talking about that not long ago. We need to start carrying the camera with us when we are running errands or visiting some of our favorite haunts, never know what you may find that is interesting.
