Can a flower garden and an herb garden be planted together? I bought some herbs today and then I got to thinking could they be planted together. I didn't know how pretty some of them were, and had flowers on them to,I bought some lavender- And sage- and Chives-Oregano- Oh yeah I got some Red sun flowers can't wait to see a red sunflower, Have you all seen them before?Has anyone grown Blue fescue ornamental grass it looks kind of pretty on the package, kind of blue looking. I also got some dwarf Dahlias.
    Thank you for the info,

    Margie

I plant them together with no problems. The bees like them just fine as well. :)

I agree you can plant herbs and flowers together without any worries. Some have lovely scents, like lavender, rosemay and lemon balm and thyme (to name just a few) and some like borage have beautiful blooms.

I agree too. Plant them all together, it will be lovely.
I've grown Blue Fescue. It is pretty...a nice, low, spiky grass with a bluish color.

In one of my flower beds I have grown lavender, chives, rosemary, and chamomille mixed in with daisies, russian sage, guara, and daylilies. It was beautiful if I say so myself. Mix away - you will love it. I also have blue fescue grass growing in the old horsetank I turned into a container. It adds a blue touch that is kind of unique. I don't have much luck growing any kind of dahlias. Not sure why. Have fun!

    Well,

As you know carrot fly is a real pest.

I just forget now what we planted after each carrot seed, maybe marigolds.

    You can also use Garlic.

I have Blue Fescue in my front bed. It loves the sun and heat. It has a cool, blue color. Also quite easy and fuss free!
Absolutely grow the herbs along with flowers! They just don't need a lot of water, or fertilizer. There are a lot of herbs that have such pretty, interesting foliage that will compliment flowers!

I've got an herbs bed, but am just as happy with mixing them with flowers. The alloted herbs bed is primarily for my husband. He won't risk using anything he's not certain of but never manage to learn how oregano, thyme and such looks like.

Yes, sure you can plant flowers and herbs together. I use parsley in my butterfly garden all the time. The Black Swallowtail butterfly caterpillars usually get more of it than I do, but that's okay.
