Can I mix these herbs in one pot ? Please help :)

I just got home from the flower shop and bought some herbs. I want to plant these herbs in the pot now but I am unsure if it's ok to put them altogether or use different pots for each. The herbs are Roman chamomile,Garden Sage, Italian Parsley,Oregano,Chives and Sweet Marjoram. Can I mix these herbs in one pot or is that a bad idea ?

As you can see, my name says it all. I am a wannabe gardener I bought these herbs but I'm not really knowledgeable with the uses and how to grow them. I order a book and I am still waiting for it. Most of the infos I acquire is through the internet and a few from this site as well.

Last week, I planted Basil,Parsley, Apple Mint,Peppermint, Lemon balm and thyme. With the help of the lady from the store, she gave me some tips on how to plant them. But today,she got home early, so I did not have the chance to ask her about the new herbs I just purchased. I hope that there's someone here who would answer my questions. Thank you so much.I would really appreciate your help.

 

You chose some great herbs. I sometimes mix certain herbs together in containers. They just need the same water and sun requirements.
The ones you listed would probably be fine, but as they grow, they might get crowded if all in the same container, unless it's plenty big...

These are some of my herbs earlier this spring. The big pot has Rosemary, Oregano & Thyme. Other pot is Lemon Balm. Sedum in little pot. They are all a lot bigger now! I also grow Basil in a pot, and pick it frequently for cooking.

I had been growing my herbs in seperate containers or in the ground. This is the first time I come across planting them together .... wow!! great idea I should say :-D

I have grown lemon balm, be careful planting in the ground if you do not want an abundance of them! Right before I moved I finally got them somewhat under control, and was a little sad I didn't take some with me. We lived in an end unit Townhouse and I would cut them back and try to keep them under control, I would take my weedings of the garden and toss them in the woods behind my house, my own little compost area. Nature took it's course and made a natural border along the edge of the woods! Often, gardeners use the same pots to put a bunch of herbs in, so experiment with flavors and colors! Happy cooking and growing!

 

Check your seed packet for plant height. Taller plants would need more room for roots. The smaller ones can be grown together but I would only plant about three types per pot. That will allow space for roots to spread. Garden sage can get rather big and sprawl so I would plant it in its own pot. It also makes a nice plant for your garden. It is rather hardy here in Texas and comes back after winter. Flat leaf Italian parsley will do the same if left to seed out. Depends on your area and how cold the winters are.

My advice is be wary where you plant Mint as it is very invasive. I am constantly pulling out the over abundance, but I enjoy the scent, the tea, the Tabouli, so I'm glad we have it.
I have the same Sage plant for years and it surely does spread out, but it is so beautiful when it blossoms.
I put all my herbs in the ground. Some come back the following year. Some do not.
You should experiment and have fun.
