My boss was doing some house-cleaning and brought lots of stuff to the office. I grabbed these 2 baskets right away with the idea of using them in the garden. I've seen people put peanut butter on pine cones and then sprinkle with bird seed. Do you think that'll work on this? And put some seed inside too? Birds 'find' and then get accustomed to a feeder over a few days. Depending what you want to attract, defines the food put in the feeder. Where you place them broadens or limits the animals that will frequent your feeder. Almost all containers will work to some degree. After awhile the feeder, if routinely filled, will be 'on the circuit' frequented by what ever animals access the food. I might put the peanut butter on something more cleanable placed in the feeder. All of my feeders are designed for birds. They are restricted access feeders spaced along 25 and 50 foot stainless steel wires. Because the feeders are elevated and away from trees, access by the squirrel population is limited to seeds and suet dropped by birds. A basket would be a tempting landing target for an ambitious squirrel. Usually their arial exploits are limited to 5 to 10 feet. Beyond that, failed attempts and belly flops dampen their enthusiasm and they prefer the easy dropped food. On the other hand if you intend to fill the baskets with nuts and place them on the ground, many blessings will be heaped upon you by the local squirrels. Jerry
