This very flower that I have to enjoy so much. Someone has come along and CUT the flower off its stem. I have been upset by this. I have since put up a sign by it letting all know to PLEASE ask me before cutting any of my flowers. Am I wrong? I love my flowers and don't think others should come along and just take them from our yards w/out permission. What do you think?

I think you are very right. I caught some young girls in my neighbors yard once cutting her tulips and daffodils. It is rude and people should ask first!

You're right Petunia - no-one has the right to take flowers from your garden. What would they say, I wonder, if you took a fancy to something from their garden and marched in and stole it?!! This kind of thing makes me really angry. :-x I don't think the notice I would have erected would have been as polite as yours.

How terrible! I am with Eileen, my notice would not be polite.
That is one thing that makes me nervous about putting my garden out front but I do plan on using some decorative fencing and some hedges to create boundaries.

I am with you 100%, Petunia. This anti-social type of behaviour infuriates me just like Eileen.
    It's despicable.

Oh Petunia, I'd SNAP if someone cut flowers from my garden! I know you were looking forward to seeds from that bloom.
It will grow back, but that's still no excuse for someone to take it.
If you like I will save some seeds from my Bee Balm for you.

Netty, that would be great, though I was going to swap seeds with you. I do have one in the back garden but I didn't think it was as pretty as this one out front.

Oh no! How aweful! It is really not respectful at all.
I plant for my own enjoyment and neighbors are welcome in my yard anytime to enjoy them, but cutting is not so cool!

I don't think the sign is inappropriate at all!

How rude and inconsiderate. I would put a sign and it wouldn't be very nice. :scheming: That is an unusual flower, so maybe that drew attention to it. Was it the only one they cut?

KG: Its a beebalm but so far it seems to be the only one to be cut. Which leaves me to wonder if it was our neighbor right across the street. Since she had given me 1 other. Its still rude to cut the flower to take it back.

That's terrible Petunia, some people will see just a flower whereas you will of course see something that is very close to your heart. Try a sign, it can't hurt.

HOW RUDE!! Just remember, what goes around comes around. They will get theirs! Maybe it had earwigs or something ;) I say that because years ago I worked in a bank and in the spring we had the cutest little daffodils in the landscape. On my way in one morning I plucked one and put it in a vase on my desk. My desk was COVERED with little bugs of some sort :D I think it was a sign telling me not to snatch flowers!!!
