Can you id a rhizome?

    I got this rhizome from a friend who said he didn't know what it was but thought I'd like it :)

    Should I really 'like' it? What kind of plant could this rhizome grow?

    Maybe try it in a pot and see what grows. If you don't like it, you can get rid of it easier.

    I'm leaning toward Dahlia. No other clues about where it came from? Whether or not it's supposed to be perennial where you are?

    Here is the plant that grew from this rhizome. Seems like Calla Lily or Elephants ear to me. Definitely not a dahlia.
